		<description>actually no, we just drove to the gate, then parked and camped there. i didn&#039;t want to lug all the gear all the way in either, and there were lots of good places to camp on that side of the gate. so we set up the tent, then just walked to the beach from there and later returned to base camp. i&#039;m not even sure if it&#039;s really possible to get access to drive through the gate any more, and if you are able to somehow get it, i&#039;ve heard it&#039;s an extremely difficult process. 
but makalawena is definately the greatest beach on the island ... probably one of the greatest beaches anywhere!</description>
